Hand Made: I use it to mean hand fabrication without the use of cast, machined or commercial parts. I also describe my work as series work. As such, any one piece is surrounded by similar items, each a variation on the design idea or focus element. These variations are often how the repeating elements have been assembled and the effect of this assemblage on the rhythm of the whole. Over time the series runs its course, or more often, a particular grouping of elements suggest a new direction and a new series is initiated. My effort is to provide for those wearing my work an object that complements their presence, while offering the viewer’s eye a pleasing, consistent and unified whole without the uniformity of the machined. |
